The vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and "architect" of sound André Abujamra, before putting together the Karnak band, participated in the duo Mulheres Negras (The Negro Women) with Maurício Pereira.
In 1992, he put together the musicians that formed the pop band that is alive until this day: Karnak. He became the creative director for the group and has received many awards in Brazil and overseas. They launched three CDs: Karnak (1995), Universo Umbigo (Belly-button Universe) (1997) and Estamos Adorando Tóquio (We are Loving Tokyo) (2000). This latest CD was produced by Abujamra with Sérgio Bartolo and Evaldo Luna. Other than the work with the band, Abujamra composes soundtracks for movies. The latest great hit, other than this for the Bicho de Sete Cabeças, was produced for the Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum - O Filme (Rá-Tim-Bum Castle - The Movie), in which he composed in the company of an orchestra |
